We would like to thank all of our customers for their business, but also for their company and conversation at the Farmers' Market.  As those of you who visit us at the Market know, our children participate and do most of the work while we are there.  Your compliments to them warmed our hearts and make the experience something they look forward to each week.  Our daughter, Esme', took some notes from the market this week and we thought we would share them (just as she wrote them):
I am at the farmers market.  I can here musec and see custmers.  Thara is art and food.  Thara is a dog named Prenses.  I am a great marketer, so I am toed.  We are getting more custmers evry minet.  Selling more food and herbs.  Thara's a small breeze that I like.  Thara is a flower stand.  Thara is a baked goods stand.  Thara is food stands.  Thara is beef stands.  Thara is a musec stand.  I am going to a shop nere by.  Thara is meny shelfs with meny things.  I like the shop.

Shade Stone Employees complete 1/2 Ironman

This weekend all of Shade Stone Farm's employees completed the Eagleman 1/2 Ironman Triathlon in Cambridge, MD.  OK, Shade Stone Farm only has two employees, but we both finished the race.  A 1/2 Ironman Triathlon combines a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run for a total distance of 70.3 miles of human powered locomotion!  Shade Stone Farm promotes healthy, chemical free food and we believe this food significantly contributed to our preparation and successful completion of the race.  In fact, our son made us some "energy balls" using our maple syrup.  We ate these just before the race for a nice taste of home before the long, hot race.  I've read that native Americans used maple syrup as a portable energy booster on long hunts (the original energy drink!).  While we no longer need to cover long distances to secure our food, this race was a rewarding challenge that we are glad to have complete!
